SPECIAL INTEREST
One of my special interest at Heritage Hall has been being one of the class officers. For the past two years, I was a class officer in charge of prom, kick-off week, and the Senior Banquet. Both years I have learned a lot about my class and representing my peers. This past year, while planning the senior banquet, I discovered how much I enjoyed event planning. Organizing events for my peers have proved to be a fun way me and my friends can give back to our community. Besides planning events, the senior class officers are in charge of running the class instagram. The picture above is of the instagram we made for our graduating class this year. As a senior class officer, I have learned the value in representing my peers. As I move onto college, I will cherish what my fellow class officers and the experience have taught me about organization, communication, and planning.

- The picture above signifies balance. It connects to my leadership because this year I have realized the value of balance in leading. Whether it's between balancing the collaboration of your ideas or others or understanding your own honesty and strength, there are many aspects of leadership that a person must learn to balance in order to succeed. Balancing ninth-grade and eighth-grade peer groups this year helped me to realize that different groups of people need different things. For example, the eighth graders need a game to stay engaged, whereas the ninth graders can stray from distractions much easier. When a leader learns to balance different aspects successfully, they can learn how to adapt to certain situations.

- Two things I’ve learned about leadership this semester
- One thing I’ve learned about leadership this year is the benefit of balance. Because we were doing both eighth-grade and ninth-grade this year, I was able to understand differences between different groups of students. Understanding what was different made it easier to understand what each group adapted better to. I quickly learned that the eighth graders needed less distractions and more fun learning prompts compared to the freshman. Balancing both helped me to learned what each needed. In addition to this, I learned more about my leadership skills as well. I realized that I lead best when I feel life my voice is heard. When the peerlings talk over a leader or ignore them, it is easy to feel like your voice isn’t being heard. When this happens I become discouraged to continue to get my point across. Overall I learned a lot about what the group you are leading needs and what me as I leader can do better.

13TH YEAR PLAN
As graduation approaches, I get more and more excited to start my next chapter. I will be attending Chapman University in Orange, California. From the first time and every time after I visited, I knew there was no where else I wanted to go to college. The town of Orange is small and quaint, unlike Los Angeles. which is it only thirty minutes from. Currently I am enrolled to major in creative writing, with hopes to go down a screenwriting track. Although, I am not so sure if I want to continue to pursue screenwriting or look into different majors in film. My end goal, is to get into the Dodge Film School at Chapman. It is super competitive and one of the best in the country. I am excited to move away from home and be in a bigger city with many opportunities. With everything I have learned from Heritage Hall and Peer Leadership, I am confident I will achieve my goals with success.
